Tonight i was talking to someone who i used to (well i want to care for but after the conversation realized that it could be yet another dead end…) care for deeply. I considered this person one of my closest friends and would have done anything for them. Unfortunately over my short time on this…
Hello.
Christian Dior haute couture Spring 2012 is possibly starting to look more like the venerable fashion house once again. There was not a lot of new ground broken here per se, but at least it wasnt the horror of Gaytten’s first collection.
All about transparency, X-rays, sheers and layers, nearly every look was black and white.
Karlie opened the show with this lovely white organdy dress embroidered with black roses.
I happen to love the white poetry floating along the hem in millions of stitches on Vlada’s dress.
And then there is the new, New Look, shown here on Alina with the belted peplum top and full skirt.
The two looks on the bottom are where things started to get more experimental- with varying degrees of success.

Not revolutionary, but certainly extremely attractive.
Oh em geeee
Looking at the Giambattista Valli couture collection for spring 2012, a few things come to mind. I have chose these 4 looks in particular as winners because they are distinctly Valli. Which is a good thing, but I wonder if he can push himself a bit more in terms of design. Apart from color palette, these could belong to any other season they are so indistinct. I need more oomph!
Also, I am choosing not to post any of the looks that are overtly floral because well, as Miranda Priestly said “Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking.”
